PRIN. B.P. SAHNI

PRIN. B.P. SAHNI has graduated in Science from the University of Kerala and completed his Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the premier Institute of Hotel Management in Mumbai. He is among the most erudite Hospitality Educators, having a Masters in Tourism Management as well as a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Predisposed as he is to gaining knowledge and understanding research, Prin. Sahni has acquired a Masters in Philosophy and is a research scholar for the Doctorate of Philosophy.

Prin. Sahni epitomizes the ability to put theory into practice by his vast experience of more than three decades in the Hospitality Industry. In a dedicated attempt to recompense the industry in which he has worked, he has been a Principal in various Hospitality Management Institutes of repute for twenty years and over three decades in the Hospitality industry. He has the distinction of chairing the ad-hoc board of Hospitality Studies and has served on the Academic Council and various other positions in the University of Mumbai since 2004.


PROF. AVRIL SULE has earned a Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers from The University of Cambridge, holds a Degree in English from IGNOU and a Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the premier Institute of Hotel Management – Mumbai, as well as a designation of Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) from the American Hotel and Lodging Association Educational Institute (AHLEI). With three decades of teaching at IHM Mumbai, affiliation with various organisations and writing articles for leading hospitality journals, her training programmes have taken her to audiences in diverse places like Dubai, Srilanka and the Maldives. A brief stint in the Hotel Industry at the start of her career and revisiting the industry intermittently as well as her travel in India and other parts of the world have given a global outlook of the Hospitality Industry. Although her forte is Housekeeping, she has established herself in training Hospitality Educators and Trainers. A vibrant speaker and innovative trainer she strongly believes that training should be predictably unpredictable!

CHEF YOGESH UTEKAR

CHEF YOGESH UTEKAR is a Culinary maestro who has harmonized his passion and flair for cooking with teaching and training.

Chef Yogesh graduated in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from D.Y. Patil Institute - Navi Mumbai. He started his career with the Taj Group of hotels and later worked with the Oberoi, MMI Dubai, ITM Institute for Hotel Management.

His culinary repertoire in Indian Cuisine covers Banquet and Buffet Operations, Theme Dinners, Outdoor Catering with creative menus. His skills go beyond the Indian borders to encompass European Cuisine.

He has been invited to make appearances on television programmes and has assisted in facilitating sessions of Masterchef India I, II, III for Star TV. His life revolves around Food and Travel and has served as an ambassador for Indian Cuisine in Universities world-wide. In the strong belief that ‘to teach is to learn’, he enjoys sharing his knowledge and skills with young aspiring chefs.


PROF. SANJIT KESKAR is an alumni of the premier Institute of Hotel Management – Mumbai. With an invaluable stint of twelve years in the hotel industry followed by fifteen illustrious years of competent hospitality academics, Mr. Sanjit Keskar possesses the ideal combination to teach, train, consult and lead academic related projects.

A highly accomplished lecturer, he is well known and highly regarded in academic circles for his compelling and effective teaching style, his focus on updated and current information and attention to detail and discipline. Mr. Keskar is particularly proficient and specialized in the subject areas of Food & Beverage Service and Controls, Hospitality Accounting, Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. PROF. SUMITRA DESHMUKH

PROF. SUMITRA DESHMUKH has earned a Master’s Degree in Science and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Dietetics. Her passion for teaching brought her into the education field 16 years ago. She began her career as a faculty at SNDT, Mumbai in 1998 and since then has been a visiting faculty at various Institutes including Atharva College of Hotel Management, St. Andrews College, ITM IHM and also The Centre of Excellence.

She has authored a book titled ‘Catering Science and Food Safety’ which is an invaluable reference for the faculty and students of the Hospitality Industry.

She is an examiner and evaluator for Mumbai University, Yashwant Rao Chauhan Maharashtra Open University, MSBT and COE (upgraded centers of ITI).She holds the distinction of being a lead food auditor for ISO 22000 (food safety system) and also a food safety trainer.


PROF. C. A. JOSEPH is an engineer by qualification. However, a Diploma in Hotel Administration from the Prestigious Ecole d’hotellerie et de tourisme – Chur, Switzerland and training at Hotel Admiral Lugano, Switzerland brought him into the field of hospitality where he discovered his linguistic talent. On completing a course in the French Language, he has been awarded the Knighthood of ‘Trou Normand’ by the Universite de Caen, France. He has taught French and German at the V.G. Vaze College in Mulund and is currently a visiting faculty at various hospitality management colleges in Mumbai.

He is a Hospitality Educator who has completed his Masters Degree in Tourism Management and a Graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management – Mumbai. He is a Member of the Ad-hoc Board of Studies - Hospitality Studies and an approved Faculty of the University of Mumbai. He has been the Chairperson, Moderator and Paper setter for Food and Beverage Management and Front Office Management at the University of Mumbai. He has been the Academic Co-ordinator for the Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management in association with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality United Kingdom and the Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts in association with City & Guilds United Kingdom.

He joined the Hotel Corporation of India as a Management Trainee and has worked for eighteen long and fruitful years in the Hospitality Industry. He was working as a Human Resource Manager with Hotel Sahara Star prior to joining the field of Academics as Head of Department at Anjuman- I- Islam’s Institute of Hotel Management. He is an accomplished lecturer with over eight years experience in the field of Academics. His area of expertise is Food and Beverage Service and Front Office Management.

MR. SMITISH S. SONONE

He is a graduate in Hotel Management and is currently pursuing a Post Graduate in Business Administration from Welingkars Institute of Management, Matunga.

He has over 12 years experience in the Hospitality sector – working in Hotels, Retail, QSR and Wine companies. He has International Experience having worked as a Training Manager with Ramada Hotel, UK (Belfast). He also has the distinction of having received the best trainer award from Mantralaya (Govt of Maharashtra) under the skill development sector (NSDC).


He is a Post graduate in Hospitality Management and Tourism Management and is currently pursuing his PhD in Tourism Management.He has cleared the University Grant Commission -NET exam the National eligibility Test for Assistant Professor in Tourism Management.

He has served as Faculty at the Rizvi college and at ITM College for the International programme of the Queen Margret University Scotland.He has over 20 years of work experience with an optimal blend of industry and teaching. He is extremely passionate about teaching and derives immense satisfaction from being able to mould and motivate a new breed of Hospitality students.

She is a graduate in Hospitality Management. Her career in the hotel industry spans over 16 years, specializing in the field of Bakery and Confectionery. She believes that each day is a new day to learn and discover the wonderful and imaginative world of Bakery and Cookery. She takes pride in imparting the knowledge and experience acquired in the industry to our young aspiring chefs.


PROF. MANASI KULKARNI is a graduate in the field of Hotel Management and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree. Prior to entering into academics, she has worked in the hospitality industry. Her passion for teaching prompted her to enter the field of Academics. Her forte is Housekeeping and she spares no efforts in constantly upgrading herself in her chosen field. It is her earnest desire to use her skills to contribute meaningfully to the overall growth and development of her students.

CHEF. PRITI PUNJABI

he is a graduate in Hotel Management from the University of Mumbai. Dynamism & Enthusiasm are synonymous with her personality. She has a flair for teaching being aided by her E.C.C.Ed (Early Childhood Care and Education) Programme. Her teaching profile boasts of experience in some of the leading schools in Mumbai. She has completed her M.B.B.S in Medicine in her early career and the phrase ‘Never say Never” aptly describes her philosophy in life.


He is an alumnus of the premier Institute of Hotel Management – Mumbai. He started his career with the Taj Group of Hotels and has worked with hotel chains like Grand Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental hotel group. He was the Pastry Chef for the Michelin starred restaurant, Rasoi in Geneva where he learned the intricacies of fine dining pastry.

Having spent ten years in the industry and over three years in hospitality education, he shares his experience and expertise with the students at SR IHM. He believes in keeping things simple for learners and working on their existing knowledge to bring out the best out of them.

Chef Prasannata Krishnakumar

She graduated in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from IHM Mumbai and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Patisserie and Confectionery from London. She also has a Masters degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management.
She started her career with Laduree UK and later worked with Primrose Bakery London, and Renaissance Chancery Court London. As City Head Chef with the Gourmet Gelato Company Pvt. Ltd (Amore), she has acquired extensive experience in innovative recipe designing and development of the Gelato premix, planning and setting up of base kitchens for Gelato and Bakery franchise in India and Middle East. Having worked extensively in commercial pastry kitchens in London, Delhi & Mumbai, she ran her own Bakery business and conducted several workshops on baking, in Delhi for a brief period, these workshops quickly became popular. She has a special talent in Sugarcraft, Wedding Cakes, Chocolates and Chocolate Displays. She demonstrates excellence not just in Desserts but also in International Cuisine.

She has combined a flair for cooking with teaching & training, budding Hospitality Aspirants. She has taught at her Alma matter IHM, Mumbai and is currently teaching at the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management. Her culinary journey has shaped her into a multi – faceted chef. She strongly believes that the pursuit of knowledge is never ending. Her favourite quote is “The day you stop seeking knowledge is the day you stop growing.”


He is a graduate in Hotel Management and Catering Technology with over 16 years of experience in Kitchen operations and management in India and overseas.

He started his career with The Oberoi Hotels Mumbai, and later worked on board Queen Elizabeth II -a legendary and prestigious cruise liner. As a Chef-de-Cuisine with J.W.Marriott – Juhu, Mumbai, he has acquired extensive experience in setting up hot and cold kitchens and in creating menus. He demonstrates excellence in the art of plated dishes and is proficient in planning and maintaining a hygienic Kitchen environment. He has trained under the expert guidance of many International Chefs and his culinary journey has shaped him into a multi- cuisine Chef, specialising in banquets, all day dining and fine dining. Through his experience, he has imbibed an adaptable and flexible approach that is essential in the hospitality industry.

He believes that the objective of education is to instil in the students the desire to learn throughout their lives.

Mr. Denzil Pereira

He has worked with one of the premier Indian Hotel Chains, The Oberoi group of Hotels in a long and illustrious tenure that has spanned 34 years. He has been a pre-opening team member for Lancer’s Bar, Bay view Bar and the discotheque-Cellars and was a member of the team responsible for creating beverage menus for these outlets and for conceptualizing and implementing the service design.

Bar Mixology has always been his forte and passion and he has personally trained bartenders in the art of mixing beverages, flaring and innovative bartending.

As an integral part of the Oberoi Banquet team, he was responsible for setting the highest standards of service and providing Standard Operating Procedure training to the staff.

He now brings to Academics his immense experience and expertise in the field of Bar Mixology and Function Catering. He believes in being ‘Hands On’ and is a valuable addition to the family of SRIHM.


An enthusiastic & perfectionist, who takes keen interest in moulding each students personality and grooming them to make them industry ready is her passion. She holds a Master’s Degree in Tourism & Hospitality Management and has completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Studies from University of Mumbai. After her graduation she has worked with Hotel Trident Bandra-Kurla Complex, in Front Office Department. She has subsequently entered into the field of Academics. She believes in developing the intellectual curiosity and confidence in students that will lead to lifelong learning.
